Hello,
My husband I and I had a spectacular trip to Italy during September. It is a feng shui paradise. The buildings have withstood time, the layout and flow of various towns and cities contribute to community, the colors mimic nature, and the various places we visited felt vibrant. The food was
delicious, and the people were friendly. We stayed on the Amalfi Coast, in Rome, Umbria, and Tuscany for three nights each. Our last two nights were in a hotel along a canal in Venice.
The roads in Venice are canals. There are no cars. One interesting note is that the map of Venice is shaped like a fish! Another interesting tidbit is that the word “spa” dates back to Roman times. “Sanitas per aquam” is found
inscribed in the Roman baths. It means health through water. The Roman baths were a significant part of the culture 2,000 years ago. They were a necessity, not a luxury.
In a new take on the timeless topic of feng shui and a version of “what’s old is new,” Architectural Digest recently published a thought-provoking article that discusses how a floor plan can affect your mental health. Apparently, there’s a new field of neuroscience called neuroaesthetics. This is a field of science that explores psychological aesthetics, biology, and human evolution.
One aspect of this is about using the arts (music, art, dance, theatre, literature, landscape and media) to treat disorders and improve one’s quality of life. How timely that this field is emerging alongside the increasing presence of AI throughout our society.
Enjoy the full harvest moon on October 6th. It’s a supermoon. It will be big and beautiful. This month is also full of lots of local autumn
activities … the last of the country fairs, an abundance of apples, pumpkins and squashes, corn mazes and hayrides. Get out and enjoy the weather while it lasts. Colder, shorter, and wetter days will be here soon enough.
Enjoy October! I included a few photos from our trip below.
