Hello, My husband, daughter and I spent Thanksgiving in Montréal, Canada. We truly enjoyed our visit. We found Montréal to be an easy and inviting city. The city felt both very European and quite modern. There is a strong focus on sustainability in all areas and language was no problem. Everyone we met
was bilingual and they easily move between French and English. We stayed in the old part of the city (Vieux Port), parked our car for the week, and walked most places. Being a pedestrian is encouraged! Bicycles are very popular and they are fitted with winter tires for the colder months. Bike lanes are a high priority. In some areas, the bike lane was adjacent to the sidewalk, followed by an auto parking lane and
then regular traffic lanes. For a few activities we used Uber. Although they have skyscrapers, they are not very tall. No building can be taller than Mount Royal, so buildings can’t exceed 232.5 meters. This allows for visibility. This is smart master planning that helps to create a human feel throughout the city. Street art is common
throughout the city also. Every June since 2013 there’s been a street art festival where artists from round the world are invited to participate. There are over 1,000 public art displays. Although we saw many of them, we’ll see more during a future visit. The food was also delicious. We ate internationally for the week: French,
Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Canadian, and American. It was such a treat. Montreal is a “foodie” city and prides itself on having a diverse selection. A highlight of our trip was the Notre Dame Basilica. We also enjoyed the Basilica’s spectacular Aura show. If you’re in Montréal, you might enjoy it as well. We also learned how to make Montréal bagels. They are easier and a bit lighter than NY bagels. This month, Mercury goes retrograde December 13th. If you can, complete your holiday purchases and mail
your packages before then. Hold off on buying electronic between December 13th – January 1st. You’re likely to have a better experience if you do. If you are among those who experience a lot of stress during the holidays, pause when you feel it coming on and breathe deeply. If you’re overwhelmed by the number of retail promotions, delete them as they come in or be very selective about which
ones capture your time and attention. Also, manage your commitments. Only accept invitations that really interest you. You can space things out and catch up in January when the pace is a bit slower. We begin December in the shadow of the November 27th full moon in Scorpio. The area of focus for the month was prosperity. If you didn’t check in at the full moon, pause and reflect on how you’re currently
feeling about prosperity and abundance in your life. One of the fun experiences my family had leading up to the full moon was free admittance to the McCord Stewart Museum during our trip to Montreal. We went online to purchase tickets, only to discover that they would be free through January 7th! One of the highlights was seeing the Enchanted Village of Margarete Steiff and learning about her story. It brought back many childhood memories of seeing the department store windows decorated for the holidays.

It’s Mercury Retrograde time again. If you’ve been following these cycles for a while, you know the drill: - Lighten up your schedule … allow space between commitments.
- Don’t purchase electronics (including cars) … chances are they won’t be trouble-free.
- Avoid signing contracts … if you must, select a time when the moon
is not void.
Anticipate delays. They’ll happen. Just go with the flow and reschedule, if necessary.

It’s that time of year again: the holidays! This is a time of excitement, happiness, and joy for some people; depression, anxiety, and stress for others and a mix of both for many. If you’re feeling out of sorts or mixed about the holidays, I recommend that you turn your focus inward. Reflect on what brings you joy and make that a priority. You can’t control other people, you only have power over yourself. Whether you realize it or not, you choose your thoughts, you experience feelings related to those
thoughts, and you choose your perspective and your reactions to what other people do and say. Let go of other people’s expectations and manage your own. Happiness is an inside job.
